Matt joined us in 2013, bringing with him a love of design that imparts meaning beyond the visual and a desire to create clever, unexpected designs that can live in the real world. He came to The Partners straight after graduating from Kingston University, where he thought it would be a good idea to dismantle perfectly good printers and redesign a ping pong table to accommodate six players. Despite these questionable hobbies, he was awarded Graduate of the Year 2013 by It’s Nice That, an online platform celebrating global creativity.
2013 was a good year for Matt, as it was then that he was awarded a prestigious New Blood Yellow Pencil whilst training at the D&AD Graduate Academy. This brought him into contact with The Partners’ creative director, Nick Eagleton, and Matt soon found himself working on Nick’s team.
One of Matt’s favourite projects is The Connaught Hotel. This work, which explored The Connaught’s heritage through beautiful design, won a range of awards and has proved inspirational for many of our designers. More recently, Matt has been working with the world’s largest professional services company, helping activate its brand globally.
Matt is passionate about nurturing new talent in the industry and has been instrumental in organizing university talks and workshops. For the last three years, he has been in charge of recruiting and mentoring graduates, and often invites students to The Partners to give talks on what it’s like to be a designer. In his spare time, Matt can be found on a push bike, exploring the hills around London.
N.B. All of our printers seem – so far – to be intact. But don’t worry. We’re keeping an eye on him.
