FROM LAUNCH TO JAKARTA’S NO 1 TV STATION IN 2 YEARS. MORE THAN JUST DELIVERING PROGRESSIVE AND PREMIUM MEDIA, NET CAPTURES THE SPIRIT OF AN INCREASINGLY CONFIDENT, MODERN INDONESIA.
News-Entertainment-Television (NET) is a free-to-air Indonesian TV channel broadcasting everything from regional news and sports to Hollywood movies. Established in Jakarta in 2012, NET seeks to dramatically change the Indonesian media landscape by providing an experience and content that is progressive, provocative and premium.
However, the bigger, bolder opportunity was to also harness a new sense of national confidence and to be the brand that embodied the potential of a modern Indonesia. NET’s vision was to be the media brand to spark and inspire change, an idea embodied in their strapline A Revolution in Media.
The challenge for our Singapore studio was to create a brand that felt as bold and exciting as NET’s ambition. The brand was visualised as a modern-day take on the radio wave, with NET as the source of news, driving attitudes and opinions.
The dynamic logo was designed with movement and a variety of colours to reflect the diversity of the content. Ripples emanate from the full stop at the end of the wordmark and spread across a variety of media from on-screen idents and graphics to studio environments and communications.
We commissioned a local designer to give us more insights into the culture and television habits of the Indonesian viewing public. We partnered with fellow WPP agency, Hogarth and Neon Sound Design, to bring the idea to life. We are now developing the brand to include marketing and profile-building activations as well as providing support and guidance for NET’s in-house design teams.
After the exciting live launch, figures have proven NET to be the #1 local channel in Jakarta. Viewing figures continue to rise, with NET's reach around 40% above the nearest competitor.
