Reviving successful old campaigns, smart move or cautious?

Global sportswear brand Columbia has recently revived it’s 'Tough Mother’ campaign that hasn’t been used in over a decade. The spot features the brand's 91-year-old chairman, Gert Boyle, and uses the line ‘Tested Tough’ to stress the resilience and durability of Columbia’s products. Nick Clark, ECD in our New York office, speaks to AdWeek. Nick isn’t so sure that reviving an icon from a previous era is such a good idea, relying on something that previously worked for you seems to lack vision and confidence.
